Shelly is a Project Director at ANSIRH, managing research studies focused on access to sexual and reproductive health care. She currently directs studies that aim to expand access to medication abortion including a national mixed-methods study on people’s interest in alternative models of medication abortion provision, a self-selection study for over-the-counter medication abortion, and a retrospective case-control study to understand the risk of ectopic pregnancy among people seeking abortion. In addition, Shelly is a member of ANSIRH’s Abortion Facility Database committee.
Sara Geierstanger, MPH, Evaluation Director, has worked with the Institute for Health Policy Studies at UCSF since 1994. Sara’s evaluation work focuses on the potential of school health services to improve student physical and mental health and well-being to help them succeed in school and life. Her expertise is in multi-site evaluations, using a mixed methods approach of both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Rebecca is the Communications & Advocacy Director for the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. She works with Bixby members to promote their work and influence policy and public debate, gaining media attention and op-ed placements in outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times. She provides strategic guidance and training in advocacy and communications, including running the Bixby Advocacy and Communications Fellowship.
Patrick has over 30 years in research, implementation and evaluation of science-based HIV prevention interventions. He began his work in the field of HIV at Denver Public Health Department as a Program Coordinator of an Evidence-Based Intervention called ”Community PROMISE”. As a Research Program Director in the Institute for Global Health Sciences at UCSF, my work cuts across the areas of maternal health, person-centered care, HIV/AIDS, and COVID-19. My research has focused on leveraging social science approaches and methodologies to explore the pathways of complex interventions and their impact on patients, providers, and the broader community.
