Years ago, Dr. Monica Hahn thought she’d be more likely to end up protesting in the streets than seeing patients in an exam room. Now an assistant professor in the Department of Family & Community Medicine, Hahn is the daughter of Korean immigrants and the first person in her family to go to medical school.
Dr. Lauren Ralph of Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health is taking the challenges of adolescent sexual health research head on. “We’re doing a disservice if we can’t gather their perspectives and experiences and make better policy for them.”
Dr. Ifeyinwa Asiodu’s research isn’t meant to sit in journals. “To know that my work is resonating with people and that they can use it to amplify and support the work they’re doing is one of the biggest motivating factors for me,” she says. “That’s why I do this work.”
