Nicole Nguyen, MPH

Health Educator, California Prevention Training Center (CAPTC)


Nicole Nguyen serves as the health educator for the Family PACT Program. She provides training and technical assistance for providers to build capacity and knowledge to better serve their Family PACT clients. She has worked in health education and prevention for more than a decade. Her primary focus has been in areas of sexual health, reproductive justice, community outreach, and global health both at home and abroad. Prior to joining CAPTC, she worked at women’s clinics and taught classes at public high schools and universities in Oakland, Berkeley, and Sacramento. Her teaching and counseling included comprehensive sexual health education, disease prevention, and access for teens and young adults. She has also worked alongside physicians and nurse practitioners to provide birth control services, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, and abortion care in underserved communities.

 

Areas of interest:

  • Sexual health and reproductive justice
  • Social determinants of health and its effects on access to family planning
  • Addressing health inequality/inequity through the lens of gender theory, institutionalized violence, and poverty
