Ms. Garfinkel is a licensed mental health professional and has a private practice in San Francisco. Miriam has worked in HIV since 1989 in a variety of settings and capacities. She was employed at the University of California, San Francisco AIDS Health Project for many years. Her work there ranged from direct service to program management serving HIV positive clients with multiple diagnoses at San Francisco General Hospital. She became the manager for the AIDS Health Project Training Unit in the late 90’s, supervising a team of trainers providing training and developing curriculum focused on HIV prevention. She was the lead developer on the first national Prevention with Positives training in San Francisco as part of a pilot program funded by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Miriam began working with CAPTC in 2007.
