Kimberly Baltzell, RN, PhD, MS
Dr. Kimberly Baltzell is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at UCSF and Affiliate Faculty of both the UCSF Institute for Global Health and Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. Dr. Baltzell works in Malawi to enhance and promote nursing leadership, currently in safe childbirth skills. In addition, her research focus includes how rural health workers, including nurses, diagnose and treat both malarial and non-malarial fever. Dr. Baltzell also works with colleagues across UCSF on updating the WHO Basic Emergency Care Course, particularly as it pertains to training nurses. With other nursing colleagues, she is exploring appropriate intervals for emergency care refresher training to make sure emergency skills are sustained across sites.
