The Regional Study Coordinator serves as part of the Safe Motherhood Team of the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at UCSF; the incumbent serves as the principal regional liaison between the NASG studies in Zambia and Zimbabwe and the investigators and project staff at UCSF; the position will be based in Lusaka with extensive regional travel to the Copperbelt province in Zambia, Harare in Zimbabwe, or other sites that may be identified; the incumbent will oversee project implementation; monitor data quality; and perform other duties as assigned.
BA/BS with a major in a related field and three years of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience working on research in Africa; academic preparation in quantitative research; experience working on both quantitative and qualitative research project either in a research capacity in an academic, non-profit, or research setting; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team, and ability to follow through on tasks; high level of proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access); able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time; able and available to travel throughout Zambia and Zimbabwe as needed; experience with SPSS, SAS or Stata. Note: Fingerprinting and background check required.
MPH, or a combination of a clinical degree (MD or RN) and MPH coursework and or experience; possess a strong interest and or experience in Safe Motherhood; experience in Data Monitoring; or knowledge about sexual and reproductive health issues; experience with IRB submission process.
