The Ryan Program at UCSF’s department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health has an opening for the position of Fellowship Program Manager (Analyst III).
This position offers a unique opportunity to work in the field of family planning and academic medicine.
The Program Manager of the Fellowship in Family Planning serves as the primary point of contact for all current fellows, fellowship directors, former fellows, applicants and potential fellowship sites. The Manager works closely with and under the guidance of the National Director of the Fellowship and Ryan Programs. He or she is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the fellowship including proposal review for new sites, the fellowship match, fellowship site evaluations, communications with the fellowship, the three day Annual Meeting of the Fellowship held in conjunction with the Annual Clinical Meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, attended by over 100 directors and current and former fellows, fellowship workshops, implementation and development of systems to insure compliance with the teaching, research and mentorship requirements of the fellowship, outreach efforts. The Fellowship Manager represents the Fellowship in Family Planning at national professional meetings and produces project updates and reports. The Manager will work in collaboration with other programs within the Ryan Program and be responsible for managing consultants and committees. He/she will develop yearly program budgets and works with the Projects Coordinator and Admin Assistant, supervising both when appropriate.
Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Public Health or a related field and familiarity with family planning, reproductive health and graduate medical education with five years of progressive experience demonstrating strong program management skills, experience in event planning, and excellent communication and writing skills. The position requires that the candidate be a quick learner able to manage multiple assignments, deadlines and projects simultaneously, be self-directed and excel in a fast paced environment.
This position requires excellent computer skills, with fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and web based programs.
Preferred skills include: experience with web design, marketing, grant writing, database management, and academic writing.
The Ryan Program is a privately funded, national medical education initiative based at UCSF’s Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. Its primary objective is to promote residency and post residency training in family planning – abortion and contraception by providing funding and technical expertise to departments of obstetrics and gynecology The Ryan Program, focusing on resident education, was started nine years ago and has initiated programs in 45 ob/gyn departments in the United States and Canada. The Fellowship in Family Planning, started at UCSF in 1991, offers subspecialty training in 16 leading academic medical institutions. Both programs are managed by a staff of 11 focusing on national and international initiatives and programs.
