Bixby Center volunteer opportunities:
Volunteer opportunity in Zambia or Zimbabwe:
The Safe Motherhood program of the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health at UCSF is seeking unpaid volunteers to support important research sites in Zambia and Zimbabwe. We are conducting a randomized cluster trial using the Non-pneumatic Anti Shock Garment (NASG) to reduce maternal mortality from obstetric hemorrhage at clinics and hospitals in Harare in Zimbabwe and Lusaka and the Copperbelt in Zambia. We are seeking unpaid volunteers who can commit a minimum of 2 months in-country between September and June to train and support local health care workers to collect accurate, high-quality data. Candidates with experience living in developing countries and/or conducting research are especially desirable. Experience in nursing, midwifery, obstetrics or other health care settings a plus.
