Biosketch:

Carolyn Sufrin is a clinical fellow in Family Planning in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the School of Medicine at University of California, San Francisco.  She received her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In addition, she holds an MA in Social Anthropology from Harvard University.  She subsequently completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Pittsburgh/Magee Womens Hospital.  Her research focuses on improving general gynecology and family planning services offered to incarcerated women.  Currently, she is working on a cross-sectional study investigating the need for emergency contraception among newly arrested women.  Dr. Sufrin also focuses on the complex interactions between the pharmaceutical industry and women's health care delivery.
