Biosketch:

Dr. M. Antonia Biggs serves as a senior researcher at the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health at the University of California, San Francisco. Antonia's research is dedicated towards better understanding the challenges faced by economically disadvantaged populations so that policy and interventions can be designed to improve their social and health outcomes.  More specifically her research interests include the behavioral aspects of reproductive health and policy; program evaluation; the cultural context of health; ethnic identity; contextual issues and how they relate to individual behaviors; and adolescent health.  Currently Antonia is directing the evaluation of California's publicly funded family planning program (Family PACT) and a study of Latino adolescent reproductive health, funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation.  Antonia has published her research on the factors associated with reproductive health attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs among marginalized populations.  Antonia holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology from Boston University.
