Eleanor Bimla Schwarz, MD, MS

Dr. Schwarz is a health services researcher who focuses on women's reproductive health. She is an Associate Editor of NEJM-Journal Watch Women’s Health and serves on the editorial board of Contraception. Dr. Schwarz spent 9 years at the University of Pittsburgh where she led the interdisciplinary Women’s Health Services Research Unit of the Center for Research on Health Care. Her research has been funded by NICHD, AHRQ, FDA, VA, the Society for Family Planning, the WK Kellogg Foundation, and the Hewlett Foundation. She has previously served as a Senior Medical Expert in Reproductive Health for the US Department of Veterans Affairs and as a member of the FDA's Advisory Committee on Reproductive Health Drugs. She is a Fellow of the Society of Family Planning, and past-chair of the Society of General Internal Medicine's Taskforce on Women's Health.
